Wegweiser 2020 - 2021
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Alexa Hoyer photographed social distancing sidewalk markings throughout NYC. Taken out of context, they seem to disclose a hidden language, secret code or perhaps even instructions to an alien game. In Wegweiser, Alexa captures an ephemeral, citywide drawing installation that evokes a sense of play while alluding to a greater narrative of transformation and uncertainty.
