Paper Boats, 2014
Performance
Artist Residency at the Inside-Out Museum, Beijing, China

Paper Boats explores tradition, technology and the role of the museum. The work consists of 200 paper boats hand-folded from images depicting traditional Chinese landscape paintings, which were downloaded and printed from Google Images.

Local residents from the Artist Colony and the neighboring village Xi Ping Zhuang were invited to participate, as the boats were released into the wading pool in front of the Inside-out museum. Weathered by water, wind and human intervention, the boats were reshaped into vessels with unique figure and history, which were then arranged inside the museum along the window facing the wading pool.
